State Land Use Commissioners said they expect to be ready to make a decision on the Kula Ridge project by November.

The Clayton Nishikawa project intends 116 units.  Controversy surrounds the water supply with accusations of “line jumping” by those waiting for upcountry water meters.  Concerns were also expressed about storm runoff and the capacity of nearby roads to absorb even more traffic.

Nishikawa is requesting land use district reclassification from agricultural to urban and rural for 51 acres mauka of the Kula Community Center and tennis courts.
