Maui Tomorrow Supports Two Charter Amendments on the 2022 Ballot

Twin Falls, Maui

MAUI COUNTY PROPOSAL #1:

Maui residents are facing the worst housing crisis in recent history. We need a County government structure that gives affordable housing the attention it deserves. By creating a separate, dedicated Department of Housing, separate from the many functions of the departments related to Human Concerns (such as Immigrant Services, Early Childhood, Aging, and a Volunteer Center), the County can better focus on housing our community.

MAUI COUNTY PROPOSAL #12:

For over a century, Maui’s water systems have been controlled by large corporations, despite the fact that our water is legally defined as a Public Trust.

This era of corporate water control has been defined by a lack of accountability, maintenance, and investment – leading to mismanagement and waste of our public water. With an uncertain climate future and more frequent droughts, we cannot continue with the status quo.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to shift control of public water from corporations to our communities.

Vote Yes!
