Please Testify to Stop Overtourism on Maui!

OVERTOURISM IS RAISING HOUSING PRICES AND HURTING MAUI’S QUALITY OF LIFE!

The Maui Island Plan calls for a maximum of one visitor for every three residents in order to protect the quality of life on Maui. Tourism growth has far exceeded that limit. In order to fix this, we need to stop the building of more visitor accommodations. This bill comes up for its second reading before the Maui County Council on Friday, December 3rd at 9:00AM.
Please testify and support Bill 148 on December 3, 2021 at 9 am during a meeting of the Maui County Council.

A SOLUTION:

Stop building more visitor accommodations.

Mahalo to everyone who previously testified on the visitor accommodations moratorium bill. After review by the Maui Planning Commission, this bill (PSLU-28) is now back before the County Council. Together, we can stop the continued expansion of our already overbuilt tourism industry and return it to its appropriate place as a contributor to quality of life on Maui.

Unfortunately, we can expect the hotel development industry to show up in opposition, so we need a strong showing of support to counter their demand for endless growth.

Please testify in support of  “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CHAPTER 19.98, MAUI COUNTY CODE, DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON NEW TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS ON MAUI.”

MAHALO FOR HELPING TO PROTECT MAUI’S FUTURE!
