An Earth Day Note from Maui Tomorrow

Aloha to all Maui Tomorrow supporters,

Earth Day is on April 22nd. This year, Maui Tomorrow encourages everyone to find safe and healthy ways to celebrate our planet, and to demonstrate our commitment to preserving and protecting the land, water and air that sustain us all.

We have been an enthusiastic participant at many Earth Day gatherings since 1990, but we will not be doing so this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Unfortunately, Maui Tomorrow has been incorrectly listed as one of several community organizations involved in an Earth Day celebration in Kihei on Sunday, April 18th.  We were unaware that our name would be used, and are concerned because we understand that the event will be “mask optional.” Maui County’s COVID-19 rules continue to apply during this ongoing public health emergency; these can be found here: tinyurl.com/t5v7hs3k

We invite you to join us in our continuing efforts to protect Maui’s  ʻāina and quality of life.  Now is a good time to celebrate Earth Day by consulting the County Council agenda and speaking up for budget items that support funding for responsible planning, food security, open space preservation, truly affordable housing, and management of tourism.
