Honokawai Valley Restoration Project
Come to Honokowai Valley every third Saturday from 9 am to about 3 pm. Ed Lindsey will host a group of volunteers to restore Honokowai Valley. Volunteers will uproot invasive plant species in Honokowai Valley, and may also plant indigenous plants.

Weed & Pot Club - Maui Nui Botanical Garden's "Weed & Pot Club" meets from 8:30-10:30am Wednesdays at 150 Kanaloa Ave in Kahului to work on nursery plants and perform other tasks. Tools, gloves and drinking water provided; bring sunscreen, wear shoes.

Kanaha Pond - Join Native Hawaiian Plant Society volunteers at Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary 7:30-11am Thursdays for weeding and brush cutting; work also done at Maui Ocean Land Trust wetlands. (808) 572-6338.

Maui Trail Crews - Na Ala Hele volunteers meet Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays to build and clean Maui trails. Leave from Kahului baseyard at 7:30am; bring lunch, water and sturdy shoes; tools and transportation provided. (808) 873-3509 or email mark.a.peyton@hawaii.gov

  • Mondays – SeaWees
    Calling preschoolers and parents/caregivers! Come explore the marine environment through field trips, activities, songs and stories. $10 per class, 9:30 to 10:30 am, at Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Discovery Center in Ma'alaea. Advance reservations required. Call Pacific Whale Foundation at 249-8811 ext. 1.
  • Mondays – Hoaloha 'aina
    With our partner, South Maui Volunteers and group leaders Bob & Lisa Richardson, you'll help maintain a new oceanside trail, pick up litter and remove invasive species. This beautiful coastal area is great for birdwatching! Meet at 7:30 a.m. at Kihei Boat Ramp in South Kihei. The program takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and includes two hours of work. Bring water, snacks and sunscreen and wear closed-toe shoes and pants.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays – Kanaha Beach Park
    Volunteers meet leader Val Magee to participate in an organized beach clean-up. Future efforts will include removal of invasive plants and planting of native species. Meet at canoe hale at Kanaha Beach Park at 8:30 a.m. Program takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30. Bring water, snacks and sunscreen.
  • 3rd Sunday and 1st Wednesday of every month – Haleakala National Park
    In the company of a Pacific Whale Foundation group leader, you'll gain free entrance to beautiful Haleakala National Park and learn about the history of this spectacular wilderness area. At the park, you'll help remove invasive pine trees from Hosmer Grove or work in the park's native species greenhouse. Free transportation is provided, from Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Store in Ma'alaea (meet at 7:30 a.m.) and the Tavares Community Center in Pukalani (meet at 8:15 a.m.). The program takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and includes three hours of work, plus time for a short hike and picnic. Bring water, snacks, lunch and sunscreen and wear closed-toe shoes, pants and warm clothes. Call 249-8811 in advance to sign up.
  • Fridays – Inland Fish Pond Restoration
    With our partner, Maui Coastal Land Trust and group leader Scott Fisher, you'll visit a remarkable coastal area that's rich in Hawaiian history and bird watching and its home to some of Maui's last sand dunes. You'll help to remove invasive species, clear brush and weed. Meet at 7:15 a.m: in front of Maui Coastal Land Trust Offices, located at 2371 W. Vineyard St., Wailuku, adjacent to the Iao Valley Church. The program takes place from 7:15 a.m. to noon and includes four hours of work. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and sunscreen, and wear closed-toe shoes, pants and hat/sun protection. Call 249-8811 in advance to sign up.
  • Saturdays – Malama Honokawai
    With our partner Ed Lindsey you'll visit the beautiful and hidden Honokawai Valley, an area closed to the public. Among Hawaiian archeological sites, you'll learn about Hawaiian history and culture as you help to remove invasive weed plants and possibly plant native species. Meet at 9 a.m. in front of North Sugar Cane Train Station, Puukoli Road, Kaanapali. The program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but the work period is 3 to 5 hours. Bring water, snacks, lunch, sunscreen and bug repellant and wear closed-toe shoes, pants and a t-shirt. Call 249-8811 in advance to sign up!
