At the December 1st meeting, the General Plan Committee will be making decisions on the Maui Island Plan, Land Use Chapter (chapter 7). The Maui Island Plan is a co-creation between the community & local government. The drafting of the Plan has been an involved process spanning several years. ★The Land Use chapter sets policy for agricultural, rural, and urban land use for the next 20 years. it is currently in it’s NINTH INNING before being adopted.★

12/01/2011 at 8:04 amI think it is imperative that we make growing our own food a top priority. Keep the Island plan as it is. From what I have read it sets clear guide lines for a future that I want to be a part of. We need to follow these guide lines as we grow as a community. Food security should be at the top of the list for this plan. Let’s make Maui the home we all want to live in. Approve the plan NOW the way it is. Let’s lay the foundation for a sustainable future for Maui.
