IRENE BOWIE STEPS DOWN AS DIRECTOR OF MAUI TOMORROW FOUNDATION

Wailuku – Maui Tomorrow Foundation president Judith Michaels announced the departure of executive director, Irene Bowie today. Bowie was instrumental in such high profile issues as litigation requiring an environmental impact statement for the Hawaii Superferry, restoring stream flow to Na Wai Eha and East Maui streams, fighting against a planned six story building at the Kanaha wetlands, advocating for a conversion to green harvesting in HC&S cane fields, and protecting Makena State Park as a wildness area.

“Irene has been a fantastic executive director and we were lucky to have her for eight effective years. We wish her the very best on her next life adventure.”

Bowie thanked the Maui Tomorrow board and supporters adding,

“I’m more convinced than ever that our work makes a difference. The challenges of climate change, increased development, and a growing population make today’s decisions critically important to the generations that will follow us.”
