Paia, Maui –
Trees Please at Baldwin Beach, a project of Maui Tomorrow Foundation in partnership with the Maui Film Festival, will celebrate Prince Kuhio Day on Monday, March 26th with a call for volunteers to join in a clearing of green waste and branches from a designated area at Baldwin Beach. Hand tools, to be provided, will be used to remove hale koa saplings from the area while leaving milo saplings in place for future trees and shade.
The Prince Kuhio Day clearing runs from 9am to noon. It is the first phase of the Trees Please project, an effort to replant native trees lost to coastal erosion at Baldwin Beach Park, and is in partnership with Maui County’s Department of Parks and Recreation and Community Work Day.
Volunteers are asked to meet at Community Work Day’s table, on the beach just east of the pavilion at Baldwin Beach Park in Paia. Water and snacks will also be provided.
This event is part of Maui Tomorrow Foundation’s educational campaign for sustainable practices.
